1. Go to this website: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ to calculate your BMI.
2. Then you will know what your approx. calorie intake should be.
3. And you are right. It is still just is bad even if you don’t gain weight. It can cause long term problems. I’m not being a hypocrite though because I agree, I eat badly too.
4. It is very important to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day and once you get in the habit it will seem natural.
3. Vegetables is on of the best things you can eat in an unlimited quantity. Try to get a variety of colors because that gives you different vitamins.
5. Calcium is also very important so drink fat free milk or find other ways to get your calcium intake.
6. If you are a big candy eater like myself, try to limit it to one serving a day.
7. If you eat a lot of ice cream, make sure you are only eating the light kind or frozen yogurt. I think Edy’s Grand Light tastes even better than the regular kind.
8. Just for all your other snacks, get the reduced fat kind. This doesn’t make them good for you but it is better than the alternative.
9. Make sure you get a lot of protein.
10. Avoid saturated and trans fats. Read labels and don’t eat foods that are partially hydroxinated (not sure how to spell that)
11. Eat fruits, nuts, and whole grains.
12. Use multi-vitamins as a last resort. It is better to get everything natural if you can.
This probably seems like a lot of info all at once but you don’t have to do it all. I just try to make little changes, like one more fruit, or 4 more glasses of water.
